Nobody told me when to train. They just said come train. My schedule has always been hectic. After 8 am, my day was like a sailboat at sea and wherever the wind took me I had to go. I trained at 11 and 6 pm. Those were the only classes available. I didn't always get to class because of my schedule. Lunch classes were great and I felt full of energy and mentally felt better. At 6 pm I felt sluggish and tired from the days work.
I couldn't always make it to the lunch class so I would drag my tired butt into the 6 pm class and put my dinner on hold till around 8 pm. When I decided to run my own jiu jitsu academy in Apex, North Carolina, my first classes were at 6 am. I knew there were a lot of people in Apex, Cary, Holly Springs and Raleigh who preferred working out in the morning. To that end I scheduled a daily class.
Little did I know this class would be the back bone of my academy. I call it my parallel universe. The night class students (aka "Night Shift") rarely ever meet the "Morning Crew". I discovered some legitimate benefits that accompanied 6 am jiu jitsu classes and here they are:
1) Increase you Daily Metabolism
2) Rarely any Scheduling Conflicts
3) Improves Daily Activity and Output
4) Less likely to Skip Training
5) Helps with Sleeping Issues
6) Accomplishing this First Goal of the Day
There are more benefits for you to discover so if you haven't tried 6 am training yet, maybe today or tomorrow is a good time to start!
